Auctions provide an equal opportunity for customers to acquire hard-to-find records, therefore, the customer that the record means the most to has a fair chance of getting what he wants. Through the competition of auctions, a fair market price is established. Many times, the dealer does not know the current “market value” of a disc. The customer is paying what the record is worth to him, in many instances less than the “market value” 2.Record auctions are mainly listings of single copy records. Dealers have found that record auctions have several benefits, both for the collector and the dealer. The bidder will then honor his/her bids by responding promptly to the dealer. At the close of the sale (many dealers use the closing date noted on the bottom of of each RECORDSMITH issue), the dealer offering records at auction will compile all the bids and notify the bidder of his successful offer of bids. “Auction” means that you, the bidder, will submit a written bid or offer on any item that you are insterested in. Many dealers use mail sale/auctions as a method for selling records to collectors.
