I have an N70 an F5, FM3a and a Nikkormat Ft3 and the N90s is the most reasonable choice to take on a photo shoot. I have owned the N90s for about 2 years and it has never let me down. I can access all of the features of the N90s, simply and intuitively. I think that the N90s to me is like an older car that does not do what this years models can do, but it sure is alot of fun driving it around.
I realise that sound has no bearing on how wonderful a photo can be, but it does provide a comfortable feeling to hear the shutter click as it does. I love the feel, weight and sound of this camera. An amateur may be more impressed by this camera more than a pro, in the year 2003. Once the MF26 is attatched, all of the button pushing and tiny lcd is obsolete and unnecessary in newer cameras.
It seems that Nikon made this camera in order to sell the MF26, because a pro cannot use the N90s to it's full potential unless the MF26 is attatched. You need the MF26 to acomplish what is simple operations on most modern cameras. You just have to be willing to use the MF26 back. It still provides a great many features that can make a photo shoot fun and challenging at the same time. Simple to operate, with alot of features that you could use once you learned more about photography. When this camera first came out, it was a very advanced camera that you could use as you grew into photography. The extensive accessories that you can purchase, make it even more fun. This is a camera that is fun to play with. In it's day, it filled a gap in the Nikon lineup. Handling is very comfortable compared to other cameras in the same league. I can hold it alot steadier than the lightweight cameras. “I love the feel, weight and sound of this camera.”
